I’ve been working towards a more story driven, cinematic approach to my images. This piece has been one of my most involved images to date. It’s also a shift in workflow; rather than shooting an entire series of images I focus on crafting one or two images that tell the story i’m after.
It’s also one of the most involved images i’ve done behind the scenes. Anyone that has to rely on the participation of others to create knows how frustrating it can be. It’s hard to make an entire team come together on at just the right time and date to execute an idea. I was lucky to have Angelique for this project. Not only was she reliable, but she was just as invested as I was. Her dedicated makeup and hair trials, costume fittings, and test shots helped make this work. Thanks Angelique! Another thanks to her husband, Eric for assisting with both test shoots and the final shot
I think this might be my favourite scene in all the Pirates of the Caribbean films. I can’t decide whose reaction I like best: Davy Jones’ look of sheer pride after ruining Will’s tea, Will’s look of “For fuck’s sake, I was drinking that” as it goes flying out of his hand, or Beckett’s look of horror at the sight of wasted tea.
